You found me when you were young,
You took me from the cold shelf and held me close,
You showed me the love I longed for, I was your favourite.
I had my own place in your world,
I was always by your side, in dream or reality
You took me everywhere I was never left behind.
I was there when you got hurt,
I absorbed you tears in my fur as you held me tightly,
You spoke to me and I listened unable to speak back.
I shared your joy and the food you ate,
The sun that burned your skin orange made me hot to touch,
The jam you got around your face made my fur sticky.
Whenever I had a bath and was hung out 2 dry,
I could see your face watching me through the glass,
It wasn’t long until I was back in your arms and messy.
You soon got older and the nights became colder,
You forgot me time and time again but I thought it was a mistake,
The older you got the more you forgot.
I was pushed away under your bed,
I began to cry tears you would never hear,
Just to sleep, I was alone unloved again.
Why did you forget me?
Why did you get older?
Why don’t you love me any more?
After being there for so long,
My fur tatty and dusty, you found me,
You smiled at me and made me feel hope again.
But that was short lived,
You cast me aside, into a black bag full of other bits,
You left again.
Now I’ll sit forever in this bag,
In this dumpsite with these old memories,
I’ll never forget what you did to me and I’ll die here alone.

Politics is the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen. -Winston Churchill
